Custom-made sun sail

A project report from Styria in Austria

Set in picturesque Styria stands this impressive architect-designed house, which captivates with its trapezoidal layout and modern style. This architectural masterpiece has now been enhanced with a functional and aesthetic addition: a bespoke sun sail from LET that fits the house’s unique shape perfectly. This installation not only protects the outdoor kitchen and dining area, but also the space in front of the panoramic sauna from sun and rain.

The bespoke sun sail is designed as an integral part of the architecture and impresses with its stylish, functional design. Not only does it provide pleasant shade, but it also lends the outdoor area clean, modern lines and a high-quality feel.

The sun sail blends harmoniously into the overall architecture of the house and does not look like a jarring foreign element at all. Thanks to its airy lightness and precise adaptation to the trapezoidal layout of the house, it appears instead as an integral part of the modern design. The sail stretches elegantly over the outdoor kitchen and dining area, offering not only protection but also visual appeal.

Climate impact and flexibility

A major advantage of the bespoke sun sail is its positive effect on the microclimate of the terrace. “In the evenings, the warmth is retained for longer, which allows us to use the terrace earlier in the year, even on cooler days. During the day, however, the sail provides pleasant shade,” explains Mr Müller. He also highlights the flexibility of the sun sail: “It’s easy to retract, allowing us to enjoy the starry sky undisturbed on clear nights.”
