Retractable sun sail – looking for practical sun protection for your terrace?
In Upper Austria, an existing house was thoroughly renovated and rethought architecturally. As part of this redesign came a continuous shading solution spanning two levels and functionally extending the outdoor space. Two retractable sun sails are used, each built as a Doppeldreieck. One system shades the balcony terrace on the upper floor, the second the terrace above the garage at ground level. Both are precisely matched and follow one clear design line.

Retractable sun sail – at the touch of a button in sun, wind and rain
Special attention went to integration with the architecture. Fabric colour, proportions and the brackets were chosen so the sun sail blends harmoniously into the overall look of the house. The shading does not feel added on, but a natural part of the design.
The retractable technology allows flexible use to suit weather and time of day. Via the smart-home system, both units are easily controlled and adjusted automatically. The result is a solution uniting function, design and technology – precisely planned and consistently delivered.

Design concept
In St. Georgen, a made-to-measure sun sail project came about that ideally unites function, design and sustainability. The two retractable, double-built sun sails offer not only optimal comfort but also blend harmoniously into the house’s architecture.
The individually adapted structure visually merges with the house architecture and is delivered to the millimetre through digital 3D planning.
Two Doppeldreieck sails offer not only gap-free shade but also a clean design language with a consistent tensioned look.
The automatic, retractable system makes for effortless control via app or smart home and reacts on its own to wind and weather.

Video
Thanks to a precise 3D scan and app-based planning, the sun sail could be fitted exactly to the conditions on site. The client's architects carried out the scan themselves – the technicians had instant access to the data and planned the sail digitally down to the finest detail. The result: a perfectly fitting, elegant solution with no compromise on tension, function or design.
