LET Sonnensegel – a manufactory from Upper Austria since 1999

LET Sonnensegel is a family business from Timelkam, Upper Austria – and one of the leading manufactories for made-to-measure, electric retractable sun sails in the German-speaking region. Since 1999 we have advised, planned, manufactured and installed premium shading solutions entirely from a single source. Every LET sun sail is individually developed, made in our own manufactory and precisely matched to architecture, use and weather. Today Franz Lerchner, Christian Loidl and Carina Loidl run the company together – for private clients, restaurants, hotels and demanding architectural projects.

More Information

The story of LET Sonnensegel is the story of an idea: to rethink the sun sail
– technically, in design and for the long term. What began as the prototype of an
electrical engineer grew into one of the leading manufactories for electric retractable
premium sun sails in the German-speaking region – with over 500 projects realised in
Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Franz Lerchner, Gründer von LET Sonnensegel, in den Anfängen des Unternehmens 1999

1999 | The beginning

Franz Lerchner, an electrical engineer, was asked by a sailmaker friend whether a sun sail could be electrified. Franz set about it – yet his first prototype did not convince him. That realisation was the beginning of LET Sonnensegel. Franz wanted more: a product that is technically well thought-out, long-lasting, beautiful and easy to operate.

2005 | The breakthrough

A mechanical engineer joined the company. Together with Franz he developed the technology behind LET’s success:
