Shortlisted for Digitalos 2026
Since 1999, LET Sonnensegel has built electrically retractable sun sails made to measure in Upper Austria – and since 2022 we consult, measure and plan fully digitally, without a visit on site.
This approach has put us on the shortlist of Digitalos 2026, the digital award of Upper Austria presented by the OÖNachrichten newspaper and Sparkasse Oberösterreich.

Our submitted project.
How it works at LET
A made-to-measure sun sail needs precise consultation: How big is the terrace? Where can it be fixed? Where should the shade fall? In the past, someone had to drive out – to look, measure and plan.

Step by step
- After your enquiry, we check by phone whether your wishes, timing and budget fit together.
- Then comes the Digital Visit – an online consultation in which we look at your terrace together. You receive a budget recommendation and a plan for the next steps.
- Measuring is done with the 3D scanner of the iPhone Pro, nobody has to come for it. From scan, photos and measurements we build a 3D model of the terrace and place the sail in it.
- Shade planning is another online appointment: we show hour by hour where the shade falls on 21 June and 21 August.
- After that, all plans for fixing, foundation and installation are produced digitally, and we explain the technology by video. The first person from LET to set foot on the terrace is the installer. Only for large projects such as hotels does a technician come beforehand to check the measurements.
What it brings
Because nobody has to drive, customers get an appointment quickly – whether they live in Upper Austria, Germany or Mallorca. Today we consult in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Mallorca. LET is run as a family business by Franz Lerchner, Christian Loidl and Carina Loidl, who is a member of the management.
930 video calls
From June to August 2026, around 70 per week, with four consultants.
4× more appointments
With the same resources – the time gained goes into consultation and planning.
50,000 km less
Road kilometres saved per year, plus around 100 hotel nights.
What happens next
Which place we take will only be known at the gala on 5 November 2026. We will keep you posted here. You can find more about the award at digitalos.at.
