LET Sonnensegel – a manufactory from Upper Austria since 1999
LET Sonnensegel is a family business from Upper Austria. We build electrically retractable sun sails made to measure. Since 1999 we do everything ourselves: advising, planning, making and installing. Every sail is made in our own manufactory. It fits the house, the use and the weather on site. Today Franz Lerchner, Christian Loidl and Carina Loidl run the company together. Our customers are private people, restaurants, hotels and architects.
History
It began with an idea: a sun sail that retracts electrically. An electrical engineer built the first prototype. It grew into a manufactory with over 500 projects in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
1999 | The beginning
Franz Lerchner is an electrical engineer. A friend of his is a sailmaker. He asked: Can you retract a sun sail electrically? Franz built a first prototype. He did not like it. That was exactly the start of LET. Franz wanted a sail that is technically well thought out. Long-lasting, beautiful and easy to operate.
2005 | The breakthrough
A mechanical engineer joined the company. Together with Franz he developed the technology behind LET’s success:
A mechanism fully integrated into the fabric roller, combining motor, bearing and spring technology – compact, powerful and invisible.
2019 | Christian Loidl comes on board
Christian Loidl joins LET. First as an adviser, later as an owner, equal to Franz. Together they build the company further. LET grows and the brand becomes clearer.
2021 | Honoured: the Julius Award
LET receives the Julius Award of the Wirtschaftsbund Oberösterreich. The award goes to innovative companies that are good employers in the region.
2022 | Digital consultation
Clients do not want to wait long. And they want clear answers. That is why LET introduces the digital consultation: advice on screen, without travel.
2023 | New website – new presence
LET gets a new website. At the centre are real projects, the 3D planning and the digital consultation.
2024 | Carina Loidl comes on board
Carina Loidl joins LET. Before that she held senior positions at Lufthansa. At LET she first goes through every stage herself. From the client meeting to the installation. Because whoever leads LET must know LET.
2026 | Carina Loidl, member of the management
After two years Carina Loidl knows every part of the company. Now she is a member of the management. Together with founder Franz Lerchner and owner Christian Loidl. LET remains what it has always been: a family business.
