Sun sail for the event stage at the Wolfsegg garden show

For the garden show in Wolfsegg am Hausruck, an event stage and marquee were set up on a meadow high above the landscape – for the duration of the show only. Warmly tinted sun sails spanned the stage and the marquee area, giving guests, performers and technicians shade. After the garden show, everything was taken down again.

The challenge: shade for a stage that only stands for a while

A stage for a garden show stands only for a few days but must be fully usable. Sun builds up on the stage and in the marquee area. Parasols would have found no hold on the truss and could have become dangerous in wind. What was needed was shading that can be attached to the stage structure and the marquee and keeps the view of the landscape open and can be taken down again after the event.

Sails above stage and marquee – for the duration of the garden show

From the air you can see how the warmly tinted sails connect stage and marquee. From the stage, the view of the hills stays open; at the marquee the sails sit on trusses and cables.

The sun sail spans the stage and marquee area freely and shades the seating generously without cluttering the area with parasol stands.

Operation is electric: the sail extends and retracts at the push of a button. Putting parasols up and taking them down is a thing of the past.

The sail is attached to the stage's truss structure and to the marquee. The fittings are stainless steel, and the tensioning cables keep the surface in shape. It was installed with an aerial work platform – precisely and matched to the structure. After the garden show, the sails were taken down again.

Conclusion

The Wolfsegg garden show proves that sun sails can do more than terraces: they shaded an event stage and marquee, adapted to the structure and kept the view of the landscape open – and were taken down again after the show.
