In the heart of Berlin, yet nestled in greenery: here a couple of entrepreneurs realised their second home – this time thought through from start to finish. From the flooring and garden areas to the façade colour, everything is coordinated. Even the colour of the sun sail blends into the overall picture.
A sun sail that is part of the design
On their first build the owners learned what matters – and the second time left nothing to chance. Colours, pool, garden areas, floors and façade interlock. The sun sail is part of this design, not an add-on: colour-matched, it complements the clear architecture and the style of the house.
Made to measure, colour-matched – handcrafted in Austria
The sail spans the rooftop terrace and protects not only the outdoor area but also the adjacent bedroom from summer overheating – without obstructing the sweeping view over the treetops.
Control is fully automatic: in the morning the sail extends via the sun sensor, in the evening it retracts again. A wind sensor pulls it back by itself when wind picks up – crucial in such an exposed location.
Particular attention was paid to design integration. The sail's colour alone is matched to the façade, floors and garden – it feels like part of the architecture, not a later add-on.
The structural elements – slender stainless-steel columns, posts and brackets – are kept understated and expertly installed. Within view they remain pleasingly delicate, keeping the clear style of the house in the foreground.
The sun sail noticeably reduces the heat on the terrace and keeps the bedroom behind it cool. The favourite spot stays comfortably usable even on hot summer days.
The exposed roof garden becomes a sheltered living space under the open sky: shaded, wind-safe and with sweeping views – real added value for the home.

The sun sail is controlled via a wind sensor and extends and retracts fully automatically – tightly wound, crease-free and securely tensioned, wind-stable up to wind force 7. The slender columns are expertly installed and remain pleasingly delicate within view.
