Two sun sails on a roof terrace in the heart of Berlin – with a view of the TV Tower

On the sixth floor of an old Berlin townhouse, right in the city: here the entire top floor has been strikingly renovated and extended – the old preserved with skill and reimagined with Berlin flair. Two sun sails shade the roof terrace while keeping the view of the TV Tower clear.

Two sails shade the roof terrace. The Trapez sun sail sits in a roller casing of non-rusting aluminium (Niro) – keeping the fabric clean and protected all winter, with no winterising needed. The second, a Doppeldreieck, shades the cosy lounging area and complements the seating perfectly. Both sails operate independently.

From a lavishly extended top floor to an all-day roof terrace: the electric retractable sun sail – here twice over – keeps the terrace cool, stays low-maintenance in the Niro casing and keeps the view of the TV Tower clear.

NUM 1

Stays cool

The sails keep the roof terrace pleasantly cool all day – the windows can stay open, the heat stays out of the house.

NUM 2

View of the TV Tower

Thanks to the slim posts the view of Berlin's TV Tower stays clear – even from the lounging area.

NUM 3

Two flexible sails

Trapez in the roller casing and Doppeldreieck operate independently – shade exactly where it is needed.

NUM 4

Wind- and weatherproof

Wind-sensor controlled, the Trapez sail retracts automatically in strong wind; in the Niro casing it stays clean all winter and needs no winterising.

Wind and weather resistance

On a sixth-floor roof terrace the technology has to think ahead. The sun sail is wind-sensor controlled and retracts fully automatically in strong wind. The posts are deliberately slim and barely noticeable – just when you are enjoying the view of the TV Tower.
