Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Thank you for choosing LET Sonnensegel. Here you will find key information and instructions for your new electric retractable sun sail.
A clear yes. Our fabrics are made expressly for outdoor use and waterproof up to 400 mm. Take care only if the fabric is rolled in while wet. In that case we recommend extending the sun sail within 2-3 days to let it dry. This prevents any mould forming.
No. If a storm approaches, the sail retracts automatically anyway. Sun sails also keep the terrace climate pleasant for longer and invite you to spend evenings outdoors. A small tip: depending on colour and light, insects may settle on the fabric. Please ensure they are not rolled in, or wash off any residue in the rain or brush it off when dry.
We advise against this. The water pressure forces the fibres and seams apart and can cause considerable damage.
Yes! You can request a quote for this from our customer service.
Of course! Please ensure the fabric can swing freely and that no sharp objects rub or chafe against it. In a storm our sun sails swing freely and retract automatically once the set wind threshold is exceeded.
Yes, but with limitations. The sails are so robust that they cannot break even under snow load. In heavy snow, however, the fabric may be pushed to the ground. Caution: if the rolled fabric has frozen to the roller, moving it can tear the fabric. As the maker, we therefore do not expressly recommend winter operation.
We recommend retracting the sun sail in winter, disconnecting it from the power and fitting a LET winter cover. This keeps the sail dry, prevents mould and stops unsightly moss settling on the sail.
Yes and no. Extremely hot smoke or sparks can damage the sun sail. A fire bowl placed to the side, however, can provide pleasant warmth beneath it. It is essential to keep a sufficiently large gap between embers and sail. We expressly do not recommend fire under the sun sail.
We sell our mechanics as „nearly“ service-free. The only exception is the cables, which are wear parts and should be replaced every few years depending on load. We offer this cable replacement as a service or are happy to explain how to do it yourself.
Our radio standard integrates into any smart home. If not arranged at the point of sale, the relevant radio adapters/routers must be bought and installed afterwards. We are happy to help you choose.
LET offers a 3-year guarantee if service intervals are observed, otherwise 2 years. Excluded from the guarantee are soiling of the fabric and damage from improper use.
Our systems use the best tubular motors currently available. They drive the roller and have a memory. In rare cases this memory can be erased (e.g. by power surges). Don’t worry: our systems are usually not damaged by this. However, the retraction and extension positions must be redefined using the remote control.
For this you will need:
– Our instructional videos
– A working LET sun sail handset
– 5 minutes of focus
