A bespoke made-to-measure sun sail as an integral part of the architecture

A project report from Styria in Austria

In picturesque Styria stands this striking architect’s house, captivating with its trapezoidal footprint and modern style. This architectural masterpiece has now gained a functional and aesthetic addition: a made-to-measure LET sun sail that suits the home’s unique shape perfectly. It shields not only the outdoor kitchen and dining area but also the space in front of the panorama sauna from sun and rain.

The made-to-measure sun sail is planned as an integral part of the architecture and impresses with its stylish, functional design. It not only creates pleasant shade but also gives the outdoor area clean, modern lines with a premium character.

The sun sail blends harmoniously into the home's overall architecture and never feels like a foreign object. With its airy lightness and precise fit to the house's trapezoidal structure, it reads instead as an integral part of the modern design. The sail spans elegantly over the outdoor kitchen and dining area, offering both protection and visual value.

Climatic effect and flexibility

A standout benefit of the made-to-measure sun sail is its positive effect on the terrace’s microclimate. “In the evening the warmth lingers longer, letting us use the terrace earlier in the year on cooler days. By day, the sail keeps things pleasantly cool,” explains Mr Müller. He also highlights its flexibility: “It retracts easily, so on clear nights we can enjoy the starry sky undisturbed.”
