Awning for hospitality – wind-resistant shading for the Wachauerstube in Loiben
In the picturesque Wachau, the Wachauerstube in Loiben is all about the finest indulgence. Its exposed, windy guest terrace was barely usable in summer – what was needed was large-area protection with no posts among the guests and uncompromising wind resistance.

Awning for hospitality
In the picturesque Wachau, renowned for its exceptional wines and historic buildings, lies a true hospitality gem: the WACHAUERSTUBE Loiben. For five years now, owner Gerald Diemt – a trained sommelier and passionate host – has trusted the made-to-measure solutions from LET Sonnensegel to give his guests an unforgettable experience.

Design concept
Designed as a retractable LET sun sail, the hospitality awning was planned to unite wind resistance, generous coverage and a premium look in a single system.
The shading spans the guest terrace over a wide area with no posts among the guests – allowing flexible table layouts and an open, brighter feel. Instead of parasols you have to squeeze past, the terrace feels noticeably more upmarket; many guests ask who did it.
By combining Dreieck, Doppeldreieck and Trapez shapes, the hospitality awning fits the architecture precisely and looks modern, light and harmonious.
The awning is wind- and water-repellent and stays taut; in a storm it retracts safely by control or automatically. And in light rain you simply extend it – guests walk in dry. Perfect for everyday hospitality use.

Gerald Diemt faced the challenge of protecting his generous, windy guest terrace from sun and wind, without compromising the aesthetic harmony of his venue. „As a keen lover of outdoor dining, I was on the hunt for ideal sun protection for my exposed guest terrace. The glaring summer sun made it impossible for me to use it,“ Diemt explains.
