Trapez sun sail made-to-measure – sauna & mountains in the Ötztal
Where the downdraughts of the Ötztal leave no awning standing, you need a made-to-measure Trapez sun sail by LET. Right by the sauna exit, anchored to the granite wall. Wind-stable. Rainproof. And the evening under the sail with a fire bowl – Tyrolean style.

Trapez sun sail made-to-measure – downdraughts, granite and a fire bowl
In the Inntal, towards the Ötztal, a homeowner made a dream come true: the rear of the house was rebuilt to a high standard – stone walls, a wellness area with stone basins and a fire zone. And above it he needed a solution to withstand the strong downdraughts of the mountain valley. An awning was out of the question. The made-to-measure Trapez sun sail by LET was fixed to the balcony and spans the former garage area generously. The stainless-steel posts were drilled and anchored directly into the granite. Once installed, the new system instantly invited a cosy round of cards and snacks, Tyrolean style.

Design concept
The Trapez was fixed as close as possible to the granite wall – as sun and rain protection and a privacy screen in one. A slight tilt ensures water drains effectively at the front corner. Sudden weather changes in the Ötztal: no longer a problem.
Cut exactly to balcony and garage roof. Stainless-steel posts drilled straight into the granite. It adapts to the architecture – not the other way round.
Built for the strong downdraughts of the Ötztal. What would have blown an awning away, the LET Trapez sail withstands safely and for good.
About 10 metres away, a fire bowl spreads warmth that gathers under the sail. An inviting outdoor area even in rain. That was the aim – and it is the result.

Project highlights

An end to parasols
An awning could not have withstood the downdraughts of the Ötztal. The taut Trapez sail can – stretched generously over the former garage area.

Anchored into the granite
The stainless-steel posts were drilled and anchored straight into the granite wall – maximum stability, close to the wall as an added privacy screen.

Rain runs off
A slight tilt and the taut fabric ensure rainwater drains precisely at the front corner – no puddles on the sail.

Warmth of the fire bowl
About 10 metres away stands a fire bowl. Its warmth gathers under the sail – subtle, but noticeable. A retreat even on cool evenings.
