Electric sun sail for a Genea Bogenhaus – when architecture allows no compromise
The genea Bogenhaus in Upper Austria is an architectural statement: round forms, large glazing and a clean, pared-back design. That was precisely the challenge. A classic awning or pergola would have disrupted or even ruined the architecture. At the same time, functional shading was needed to temper the interior on hot days and make the terrace usable.

Innovative shade for an extraordinary home
The genea Bogenhaus stands for modern living in harmony with nature. With its earth-sheltered construction and generous window areas, it offers a sustainable living concept with the highest comfort. To keep the rooms pleasantly cool in summer and make the most of solar energy in winter, an electric sun sail was installed. The innovative solution not only guards against overheating but extends the living space stylishly outdoors. Function, design and sustainability unite here into one perfect whole.

Design concept
The solution: a precisely planned sun sail that adapts to the form of the house rather than working against it. The chosen Dreieck sail shades the glass areas in a targeted way while creating pleasant shade outdoors – depending on the sun’s position in spring, autumn and high summer.
An electric sun sail was fitted exactly to the Bogenhaus’s round architecture and flows seamlessly into the overall concept. It guards against intense sun while underlining the building’s organic form.
Thanks to smart-home connectivity, the electric sun sail responds automatically to weather changes and can be controlled manually by app or switch. The result is a flexible outdoor living space usable all year round.
With long-lasting, weatherproof materials, the system delivers lasting comfort and a pleasant microclimate – with no compromise on looks. The electric sun sail unites design and energy efficiency into a forward-looking solution for style-conscious builders.
Challenges and solutions
The sun sail deliberately holds back and lets the form of the Bogenhaus shine. No visible dominance, no overlay – simply a solution that complements. A larger Doppeldreieck variant was originally planned. The final choice fell on a single sail that meets the essential needs and puts the architecture firmly centre stage.
