The wind-stable sun sails provide large-area shade and blend seamlessly into the design. Thanks to smart control they can be operated centrally and retract automatically in storms – for carefree comfort and an undisturbed wellness experience.
Design concept
The „Sonnenschutz Therme Ischl“ project delivered a shading solution that meets the highest demands, both architecturally and functionally. The combination of intelligently controlled technology, a cantilevered structure and weatherproof material creates a year-round outdoor wellness experience – with no compromise on comfort, safety or the view.
The cantilevered sun sails provide reliable shade and protect guests in rain or strong wind too – with no obstruction to the view.
The well-considered construction keeps the open view of the mountain panorama undisturbed, so the sun sails fit perfectly into the spa concept.
Fixed across old and new buildings and fully tied into the building automation, the sails respond automatically to changing weather – ideal for continuous spa operation with no extra staff effort. As a bonus, the tensioned surfaces add a degree of acoustic separation and so create calmer zones.
