Why LET?
Are you wondering what makes LET sun sails so special? Sure, having the motor in the shaft is almost standard these days, but with us there’s much more to it than that. Our secret ingredient? A roll-up sun sail where not only the motor but also the tension-relief mechanism is cleverly positioned in the centre. The result? Tautly stretched fabrics, no exposed fittings, and sails that still look great even after decades and countless storms.

Patented mechanism: Secure in wind and storm
The built-in spring keeps the fabric taut. When a gust of wind strikes, the spring absorbs the force of the wind and the tension cable is released in a controlled manner. Once the gust has passed, the fabric tightens again. Don’t worry: from wind force 7 upwards – that’s around 50–61 km/h – the electric awning retracts automatically, controlled by the wind sensor. This makes our shading systems particularly suitable for windy regions or roof terraces.
Out and about, even in wind and rain
Our shade sail fabrics are waterproof up to a water column of 400 mm. Every fibre of the fabric is sealed at the spinneret, and the constant tension in the fabric causes water to roll off the sides. Any temporary pools of water are drained off in a controlled manner (provided the shade sail is angled appropriately).
Craftsmanship
Every LET sun sail is carefully assembled, inspected and approved for installation at our factory. Once the custom-made sun sail mechanism is ready, it is ‘married’ to the sun sail fabric. This means that we assemble every sun sail at the factory, stretch it out and check both the mechanism and the fabric. Only tested awnings that function perfectly are neatly packed and installed by our installation teams.
Retractable sun awning: Automatic operation
The awning can remain extended up to wind force 7 (50–61 km/h). If the wind gets any stronger, the awning retracts automatically, controlled by the wind sensor. Of course, you can retract your awning at any time using the remote control. The light sensor automatically extends your awning as soon as the sun comes out. This prevents the patio from overheating.
