Wondering what makes LET sun sails so special? Sure, a motor in the roller is almost standard by now, but with us there is far more behind it. Our secret ingredient? A retractable sun sail where not only the motor but also the load-relief mechanism cleverly centred . The result? Taut, evenly tensioned fabric, no exposed add-on parts and sails that still look superb after decades and countless storms.

Patented mechanism: safe in wind & storm
An integrated spring keeps the fabric under tension. In a gust, the wind’s force is absorbed by the spring and the tension cable is released in a controlled way. After the gust, the fabric re-tensions itself. Don’t worry: from a strong wind force 7, roughly 50 – 61 km/h, the electric sun sail retracts automatically, controlled by the wind sensor. This makes our shading systems ideal for windy regions or roof terraces.
At home outdoors, even in rain and wind
Our sun sail fabrics are waterproof to a water column of 1,000 mm. Every fibre is jet-spun sealed, and the constant fabric tension lets water bead off to the sides. Temporary water pockets drain off in a controlled way (with the sail set at a suitable incline).
Craftsmanship quality
Every LET sun sail is carefully fitted in our manufactory, inspected and released for installation. Once the made-to-measure mechanism is ready, it is married to the sun sail fabric. That means we assemble every sun sail in the manufactory, tension it and check both mechanism and fabric. Only tested, perfectly working sun sails are neatly packed and fitted by our installation teams.
Retractable sun sail: automatic operation
Up to wind force 7 (50-61 km/h) the sail can stay extended. If the wind grows stronger, the wind sensor retracts it automatically. You can of course retract your sun sail at any time by remote control. The light sensor extends your sail on its own as soon as the sun shines, preventing the terrace from heating up.
